DTF Film Application Guide: Precision Printing Results
Our dtf transfer film is optimized for a seamless 5-step workflow, ensuring consistent quality from digital file to finished garment.
1. Artwork Design
Before starting DTF transfer printing, you need to create your design through professional graphic design software.
2. DTF Printing onto PET Film
The design is typically mirrored and CMYK inks are printed on the PET film using the DTF transfer printing process, followed by white inks to create an opaque backing.
3. DTF Powder Application & Curing
The hot-melt DTF powder (adhesive powder) is applied to the printed areas while the inks remain tacky. And then the film is conveyed through a dryer. The DTF powder is fused and then cured, therefore forming a flexible film on the surface.
4. Fabric Preparation
The target fabric is placed on the platen of a heat press, and the cured PET film is put onto the fabric, applying a positioning system to ensure precise alignment for the final design.
5. DTF Heat Press Application
The controlled temperature, pressure and time are applied using a DTF heat press to activate the powder and bond the printed patterns to the fabric fibers. This step is critical as it determines the adhesion strength and wash fastness of the DTF transfer printing results.
6. Film Release
The last step is to peel off the PET film after the heat-press process.
